Lucy's in Celina, TX

Chocolate Cake
Kentucky Bourbon Pie
Lucy's in Celina, TX

Mer and I road up to Muenster, TX for a late breakfast, explored the beautiful roads north of Muenster and then headed to Lucy's in Celina, TX. They recently moved to this new location on the square. We were there on a Sunday at about 1:30 pm and the place was packed. The wait staff had their hands full, but they were very nice and we were in no big hurry. It was about 92 degrees out and we needed to cool off. First I sucked down a glass of ice tea and then on to dessert.
I tried the chocolate cake and it was excellent. I loved the chocolate chips sprinkled on top of the creamy rich icing. Mer tried to get coconut cream pie, but they were out of all the cream pies. Instead she had the Kentucky Bourbon which is like pecan pie with chocolate chips. She loved the pie, giving it 4 stars. If the pie was warm, she would have given it 4.5 stars.

I would definetly recommend Lucy's. Next time I would like to have lunch and dessert. Get there early for pie and to beat the crowd. Very friendly staff even at their busiest time.

The Shed Cafe in Edom, Texas

Chocolate Chip Pie
Chocolate Dream Pie

Specials and Pie

Mer at The Shed Cafe

Mer and I headed East to Edom, TX to visit The Shed Cafe. It was a warm and windy day and the clouds were spitting a few drops of rain.

We have visited The Shed a few times in the past, but we were greeted with a few surprises. First, there was designated motorcycle. Although there wasn't much room, it is a nice start. Next, they announced a small price increase on the door. Even with the price increase, the menu prices seem reasonable. As we walked in the restaurant, we noticed they moved the cash register to make more room for tables.

On to the food and pie. We split chicken fried steak so we would have room for pie. The food was excellent and the employees were very friendly. The daily specials and pie are written on a board, so the next decision was which pie. I chose the Chocolate Chip and Mer chose the Chocolate Dream. I have to say, mine was better! Very, very rich with a nutty crust.

Clark's Outpost in Tioga, Texas

Now that is Pie!!!!
Clark's Outpost is one of our favorite restaurants to visit. Mer loves the chocolate pie with the towering meringue. Our favorite food is the chopped beef sandwich. This is the best BBQ you will ever have, I promise. The BBQ sauce is fantastic as well. If we can't think of a destination, we head to Clark's.

Pit Stop Bar-B-Q in Breckenridge, TX

Pit Stop Bar-B-Q is located in Breckenridge, TX is located just off the main road going through town. You will likely smell the wood burning smokers before you even see the restaurant.

We met a group of bikers from the Lone Star Rider forum: Swabby, FirstMate, GhostRider and GreyBeard. We met up and were ready for some good food.

Most of us had the chopped beef sandwich special which came with a drink and one side. Pretty good deal for $5.50. The first comment we all made was..."this is the dryest BBQ I have ever had". The taste was good, just dry! The next comment was how salty the meat was. Again, it tasted okay, but dry and salty.

Well, since this blog focuses on pie and they didn't serve pie, we had cobbler with ice cream. They had quite a selection and we ordered Apple Cobbler with ice cream. This is where Pit Stop Bar-B-Q redeems themselves. The cobbler was really good!

Here is a link to Pit Stop Bar-B-Q where you can find the menu and a map.
